Šavnik - ˝The town with two downs˝
Šavnik, located on the banks of the three rivers: Bijela, Bukovica and Šavnik, was founded in 1861. It was named after the branches of the willow tree which are called šavice
You must be wondering how that's possible. In the morning the sun rises behind the hill Kravica to set behind the hill Gradac around 2 p.m. The second time it appears in the Bukovica canyon. At the end of the day it finally sets behind the Vojnik mountain. This natural phenomenon is just one of the many that adorns our town.
Šavnik, located on the banks of the three rivers: Bijela, Bukovica and Šavnik, was founded in 1861. It was named after the branches of the willow tree which are called šavice. They were used a long time ago to cover the roofs of the houses. A significant number of authentic traditional architecture was preserved in this area, which makes it even more special.

The Nature park-Dragisica and Komarnica
The area of the Nature Park "Dragišnica and Komarnica" is located in a mountainous area dominated by eroded, often deeply dissected landforms with low, medium and high mountains and ridges, canyon valleys and gorges. This nature park is everything that nature lovers could wish for. The Nevidio canyon in which the Komarnica river mystically disappears, graces this area with its beauty. Besides the canyon, the rocks of Boljske grede contribute to this beauty as well as endless areas with forests and pastures that host numerous endemic species of plants, large number of fungi and characteristic animal species. This nature park is an attractive place both for adrenaline lovers as well as for those who want to relax and escape city crowds.
The Nevidio canyon
Inaccessible terrain kept this fairy-tale beauty far from the people's eyes which is why it got the name Nevidio(the Unseen canyon). It was first conquered in 1965 which makes it the last discovered canyon in Europe. The canyon is the part of the river Mala Komarnica which rises at the foothill on the southern slopes of the Durmitor mountain. This river joins the river Pridvorica in the village Duži and together they create the river Velika Komarnica which continues through the Canyon to the artificial Piva lake. The canyon is considered one of the most beautiful tourist destinations in Montenegro. The very entrance of the canyon allures with its extraordinary beauty and passing through the canyon is an indescribable adventure, especially for adrenaline lovers. The passage through the canyon is very extreme so you need to have complete equipment for canyoning and you shouldn't embark yourself on this adventure without a trained guide.
Boljske grede
Boljske grede, the imposing rocks, strech for almost 3.5 kilometers and they are high 700meters. Their highest peak is located at the altitude of 2,091 meters above the Komarnica canyon. Boljske grede is a great challenge for climbing enthusiasts. The north wall of these rocks and the wall called Soa Nebeska belong to the group of the most impressive walls of Durmitor whose beauty takes your breath away.
The Grabovica canyon
The Grabovica canyon is located on a small river near the Nevidio canyon. It's length is about one kilometer. What makes this canyon special is that sun's rays reach almost the entire canyon. Passing through the canyon brings multiple pleasures because besides going down on waterfalls there are also some beautifull natural pools. We recommend not to embark on this adventure without the necessary equipment and well trained guide.
The Bijela river, on which there is a mill and Crnjak waterfall
In its haste the Bijela river loses its blue colour and becomes almost white. Then it becalms and finally takes on its emerald colour. On this river there are remnants of a mill dating from the 12th century. This mill called Crnjak was once powered by the torrent of the watefall which is also named Crnjak. This magnificent sight is located in the village Bijela about 10 kilometers from Šavnik. The beauty of this river cannot be described in words because it's a special scene that can only be experienced in person.
The Skakavica waterfall
The Skakavica waterfall is located on the Grabovica river which flows into the Komarnica river famous for The Nevidio canyon. The waterfall is 70 meters high and it's active in the period of snow melting and heavy rains. This waterfall is special in winter days when it freezes due to low temperatures and it challenges many alpinists. Only when you hear the rushing flow of this waterfall you will be aware of its beauty and uniqueness.
The Windfarm Krnovo
Krnovo is a grassy plateau with an average altitude of 1500 meters surrounded by Vojnik mountan. With Mount Lukavica it forms an area that mountaineers call 'Montenegrin Tibet'.Because of the harsh climate of this area it happens very often that there is still snow during summer months. It's famous for katuns, the mountanious
