Montenegro in Eurowings magazine: 11 pages celebrating women living in harmony with nature

As journalist Marc Oliver Rühle writes, these women may be “invisible” in the conventional sense, yet their lives are in sync with nature – far from the buzz of modern society, shaped by sunrises and seasons rather than likes and algorithms. Their world is filled with meaningful labor, quiet strength, and a lifestyle rooted in tradition, now shared with millions of readers across Europe

Montenegro once again shines on the international tourism scene – this time through an emotional and inspiring feature in the prestigious inflight magazine Wings, distributed by the airline Eurowings. In an 11-page article titled "Im Land der unsichtbaren Frauen – In the Country of Invisible Women", the lives, strength, and dignity of women from Montenegro’s mountain regions take center stage.

Mountain Women – Guardians of Tradition and Symbols of Authenticity

The feature brings deeply personal stories of women from northern Montenegro – Danka, Gordana, Jovana, Vera, and Žizela – who preserve the rhythm and spirit of their ancestors through their daily lives, while also bringing a modern perspective to traditional lifestyles.

Danka Šekularac from the Suvodo katun in Biogradska Gora National Park represents a new generation of women who proudly revive and run their family estates. Gordana Dulović from Gornje Lipovo lives in a 19th-century stone house, producing cheese, rakija, and honey in harmony with nature. Jovana Bogavac from the Laništa katun introduces innovations like solar panels and online reservations to ensure her family can remain on the mountain. Vera Pavićević from Durmitor crafts handmade products and looks hopefully toward future generations who may continue her path. On the far south, in Luštica, Žizela Marković has traded city life for harmony with the sea, herbs, and music, creating a unique experience for each guest.

Invisible, Yet Powerful – Women Who Redefine Montenegro’s Image

As journalist Marc Oliver Rühle writes, these women may be “invisible” in the conventional sense, yet their lives are in sync with nature – far from the buzz of modern society, shaped by sunrises and seasons rather than likes and algorithms. Their world is filled with meaningful labor, quiet strength, and a lifestyle rooted in tradition, now shared with millions of readers across Europe.

Montenegro as a Destination of Strong Women and Sustainable Living

Montenegro’s prominent appearance on the cover and in the main content of Wings magazine – read by over 5 million passengers each month – marks an exceptional opportunity to promote the country as an authentic, culturally rich, and ecologically conscious destination. The National Tourism Organisation of Montenegro facilitated the journalist’s study visit, with support from local partners: the Dulović household, Pony Art Garden, and the Laništa katun.

Published in both German and English, the article reaches a wide and diverse international audience. Through these stories, Montenegro promotes not just its natural beauty, but also the values that make it a truly special place: deep connection to the land, the strength of women, authenticity, and hospitality that leaves a lasting impression on every visitor.
