Montenegro Railways (ŽPCG) has implemented a new passenger fare policy as of early June, which includes the termination of promotional ticket prices that were in effect for nearly a decade. As a result, the cost of travel on several routes has increased.
According to the new pricing:
- A ticket for the Podgorica – Nikšić route now costs €3.20, compared to the previous €1.50.
- The Podgorica – Bijelo Polje ticket is now priced at €5.20, up from €3.50.
- A ride from Podgorica to Bar now costs €2.80, which is €0.50 more than before.
Tickets purchased onboard from train conductors are subject to an additional €1 surcharge. This applies to routes where station ticket offices are available, specifically in Bar, Sutomore, Podgorica, Nikšić, and Bijelo Polje.
In addition to the fare adjustments, ŽPCG’s Board of Directors adopted amendments on May 8 introducing new benefits for vulnerable population groups:
Free transportation is now available for individuals suffering from cancer, muscular dystrophy and related conditions, multiple sclerosis, and those undergoing dialysis.
Their accompanying persons are eligible for a 50% discount on ticket prices.
The company also introduced annual subscription passes for students and schoolchildren, allowing unlimited travel between their residence and school:
- The pass costs €30 for routes Podgorica – Bar and Podgorica – Nikšić.
- For the Podgorica – Bijelo Polje route, the price is €60.
- Children under the age of six continue to travel free of charge.
