The Tango Camp is ready once again to get everyone dancing! From July 8 to 26, Kolašin will host its third consecutive edition of this beloved event, following a five-year hiatus that the local community is gradually forgetting. The squares and streets of Kolašin will once again be filled with dancing couples in warm embraces, to the delight of locals and tango lovers from around the globe. This year’s 11th edition will last a record-breaking 19 days.
One of Montenegro’s most authentic festivals will welcome around 800 dancers from 53 countries and over 200 cities worldwide. The event is organized by Tango Natural Montenegro and has so far received support from the Municipality of Kolašin.
Once again, Kolašin and Montenegro will take their place on the global map of international tango gatherings. This unique event has gained international recognition for its fusion of Argentine tango, Montenegrin natural beauty, and a wide range of accompanying activities—not to mention its extraordinary duration.
A past recipient of the Wild Beauty Award from the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro, and one of nine events featured on the NTO’s list of “must-see experiences in Montenegro,” the Tango Camp continues to cement its legacy.
More than just dance
In addition to daily dance activities featuring tango and Argentine folk dances, guests of the camp can enjoy organized hiking and cycling tours, rock climbing, archery, yoga, relaxation programs, horseback riding, children’s creative workshops, concerts, lectures, and many other offerings.
New attractions this year include acro-yoga and golf on the Lipovo course (“Kolašin Golf Course”), along with Feldenkrais method workshops—designed to restore internal harmony both physically and mentally. The camp will also feature mountain running tours in partnership with the organizers of the Bjelasica Ultra Trail.
Much of the program takes place outdoors, creating a true carnival-like atmosphere for residents and visitors alike.
The Tango Camp, with its diverse content, continues to establish Kolašin as a destination for creative and unique holidays—distinct from traditional tourist hotspots in Montenegro.
Tourism with a purpose
Camp guests are precisely the kind of tourists Kolašin missed during the five-year break. The average stay is around eight days, and many participants choose to stay for the full 19 days or even longer—unlike typical transit tourists who stop by for a day or two. Thanks to the Tango Camp, Kolašin enjoys guaranteed guests who fill its accommodations regardless of weather or other external factors.
Beyond amateur and professional dancers, numerous Kolašin locals and visitors will also take part in this cultural celebration, enjoying not only tango but the many accompanying programs as well.
The musical portion of the festival will feature major names in Argentine tango, such as Leonel Gasso, Lucio Klaros, Walter Romero, Diego "Dipi" Kvitko, and others. Some of Europe’s most renowned DJs will provide music for the dance events.
