When you wish to absorb all the primeval beauty and power of nature, as well as magnificent landscapes, head to the trails of Durmitor. The high position on the list of attractions that the Durmitor Ring occupies among domestic and foreign tourists, due to all that this magical adventure offers, is more than deserved. The Durmitor Ring panoramic road is a circular journey which is about 80 kilometers long, and the tour starts from the center of Žabljak and continues around the Durmitor mountain massif.
One of the most fascinating stages of that journey is reflected in the opportunity to enjoy the deepest canyon in Europe and the second deepest in the world - the Tara canyon. An amazing view of the canyon is offered from the Veliki Štuoc point, which represents the first pass and the highest point on the journey. Tourism organizations recommend that you make a trip to the Ćurevac viewpoint, which offers an unforgettable view of the Tara canyon. Driving along the serpentines of the Durmitor Ring, you will come across several beautiful viewpoints and be surprised by a series of mountain and canyon panoramas...
One of the most interesting passes on this route is Sedlo (1907 m above sea level), which is located between Sedlena greda and Uvita greda (2199 m above sea level). The bench located there is a favorite place to rest and take photos.
Momčilo's Town is another fantastic place on this route. Pirlitor or Momčilo's Town is known for the epic hero - Duke Momčilo, who died because of his wife's betrayal. This famous legend is described in the folk poem The Espousal of the King Vukašin. From this place, there is the most beautiful view of Žabljak and Durmitor.
Idyllic scenes of village life
The entire experience of this unique tour is complemented by the hospitality of the local population. The image of rural life will be enriched by the flavors of this region. Famous specialties are: lamb, kačamak, cicvara... When you visit the village, take a break in the pastures, surrounded by domestic animals. The idyllic scenes of pastoral life are a valuable segment of this mosaic and provide an unforgettable experience.
The Durmitor Ring includes the villages of Trsa, Nedajno and Mala Crna Gora, a remote Durmitor village located on the edge of the canyon of the Sušica river. It is one of the most beautiful and impressive canyons in Montenegro and is 14 km long. At the bottom of the canyon is the only periodic lake on Durmitor - Lake Sušičko. When the snow melts from the surrounding mountains, the lake is full of water, and in the summer, it dries up and turns into a flower meadow. This Durmitor gem is located at an altitude of 1140 meters and is surrounded by coniferous forest. It is also an unavoidable stop on the way along the Durmitor Ring.
Whether you choose a car, motorbike or, in the summer months, a bicycle, this is an adventure you will not forget. Camper paradise. An unforgettable experience for nature lovers.
