Montenegro recently welcomed Lori Balton, one of the most prominent Hollywood location scouts, whose career, spanning more than three decades, has been marked by work on numerous cult films in collaboration with some of the biggest names in world cinema.

The Film Centre of Montenegro (FCCG) announced that Balton’s visit represents an important step toward strengthening the country’s international visibility as an attractive film destination.

During her multi-day stay, accompanied by representatives of the Film Centre of Montenegro, Balton visited key natural and cultural-historical sites across the country – the Bay of Kotor, national parks Lovćen and Durmitor, historic urban areas such as Perast, Kotor, and Cetinje, as well as modern developments like Porto Montenegro and Portonovi.

Impressed by the diversity of landscapes within such a small territory, Lori Balton emphasized that Montenegro possesses outstanding visual potential for different film genres, according to the Film Centre.

“This is my first time in this part of the world, and I can say that Montenegro has truly amazed me – the landscapes are spectacular, the locations authentic, and everything is easily accessible. Rarely can such a wide variety of views be found in such a small area,” said Balton, adding that she sees significant potential for Montenegro to become an attractive destination for international productions.

Balton’s direct insight into what Montenegro has to offer represents a valuable opportunity to position the country within the network of global filming locations, especially at a time of growing interest in foreign shoots in Montenegro, the Film Centre noted.

Lori Balton is a renowned name in Hollywood, a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences, where she serves on the Production Design Branch Executive Committee, and is active in professional associations and educational platforms worldwide. Her opinions and recommendations carry great weight in the selection of locations for high-budget film projects.

Balton’s visit was organized by the Film Centre of Montenegro in cooperation with the Association of Film Producers and Directors of Montenegro, with the support of the National Tourism Organization of Montenegro, as well as the tourism organizations of Herceg Novi and Cetinje.
